What exactly are toxins and detox? A toxin is anything that damages the body. Ranging from alcohol, pesticides, and additives to radioactive metals. Of course, we won’t be covering detoxing from radioactive metals, but you get the point. And detoxing simply put is flushing out all the substances that poison your body. Detoxing from alcohol, artificial food ingredients, chemicals, and pollutants. And other food-related toxins are easy though. When it comes to detoxing your body, the following steps are simply unavoidable.

THE RULES

  1. Hydrate!
Staying hydrated is crucial for detoxification. Since our bodies are made up of over 70% water, ensuring adequate hydration should be a top priority. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water daily helps flush out toxins and maintain optimal bodily functions.
In addition to water, incorporating vitamin-rich, no-sugar-added natural juices, smoothies, and green tea into your diet can also contribute to hydration and detoxification. These beverages provide essential nutrients while supporting your body’s natural detox processes, helping you feel refreshed and revitalized.
  2. Help your body use all the nutrients in your diet
A fiber-rich diet helps regulate bowel movement and nutrient absorption. Vegetables of different colors are a must. Additionally, eating fresh fruits is better than consuming them as juice for this very reason. There are far fewer fibers in the fruit juice than the whole fruit.
  3. Choose your food wisely
Choose organic, whole foods over the packaged, processed variety. Whole wheat flour instead of regular white, brown sugar or honey instead of regular sugar, brown rice instead of white, etc. Try healthy, but tasty alternatives like hummus and pita bread, sweet and savory salads, corn and avocado wraps…
  4. Exclude the meat
For a couple of days, try cutting back on the meat and seafood and “veg out”. That way you’re consuming less fat and fewer calories. Load up with proteins from yogurt, lentils, egg whites, nuts, and cottage cheese. While lowering the intake of salt and sugar.
  5. The extra-mile detox
You can include detox foods like wheatgrass, acai berries, garlic, flax seeds, watercress, turmeric, etc. This will add benefit to your diet. Go slow on the caffeine and forget about alcohol.
  6. The long-run detox
A healthy life is maintained by continued exercising! Spend at least 30 minutes every day, starting your day by consuming a glass of lemon water and honey. Practicing yoga, meditation, and other fitness activities!
