Not every article on OnlineBuyerReview.com is based on physical product testing. We distinguish between research-based evaluation and hands-on testing, and we use hands-on language only when a specific product was actually evaluated in that way.
Our Review Process
The exact process depends on the product category and the purpose of the article, but our work generally follows these stages:

- Write the recommendation with limitations: explain who a product may suit, where it may fall short, and what readers should verify before buying.
What “Hands-On Tested” Means
We use terms such as “tested,” “hands-on tested,” or similar wording only when the specific product was physically evaluated by the author, contributor, or documented editorial process associated with that article.
When practical, a hands-on article should identify the exact product or model, the aspects tested, the relevant test environment or use conditions, the approximate test period where meaningful, and any limitations that could affect the conclusions.
Hands-on testing does not automatically mean laboratory certification. If a measurement comes from the manufacturer, retailer, regulator, or another outside source rather than our own measurement, the article should not present it as an independently measured result.
Research-Based Reviews and Buying Guides
Many useful buying decisions can be supported by careful research even when physical testing is not practical. A research-based review or buying guide may evaluate manufacturer specifications, manuals, dimensions, compatibility, warranty information, safety documentation, independent expert sources, regulatory information, current availability, and recurring user feedback.

How We Use User Reviews
User reviews can help identify recurring patterns that may not appear in specifications, such as long-term reliability complaints, confusing controls, difficult cleaning, fit issues, or common owner satisfaction points.
We do not treat one review, one rating, or one anecdote as proof of general performance. When user feedback is used, we aim to look for recurring patterns across multiple recent sources where practical. Obvious spam, duplicated reviews, irrelevant comments, and clearly incentivized or manipulated feedback should not be treated as reliable evidence.
Scoring and Rankings
Not every OnlineBuyerReview.com article uses a numeric score. When an article uses ratings, scores, or weighted rankings, the criteria should reflect the product category and the intended buyer. Where weighting materially affects the result, the article or methodology should explain the important factors rather than presenting a score as an unexplained fact.
